After Bibury and on our way to Bourton-on-the-water, we decided to get a little lost and just follow the roads through the fields and stumble upon pretty homes and villages. This is when we found Fairford and had the dreamiest, most delicious iced coffees we have ever had! As soon as summer makes a welcome return, I shall definitely be recreating them and will post the recipe.
Bourton-on-the-water is a very popular village and we knew it would likely be quite busy. It turns out this was quite the understatement as it was completely and utterly overwhelmed with visitors. It was the hottest day of the year thus far and we just couldn’t face the crowds and the heat, so we are saving Bourton-on-the-water for another time.
We headed south to a small village called Ford (just a couple of miles from Castle Combe), so we could settle in to the pub that would be our home for the night. The White Hart Inn is perched on the banks of the river Bybrook, with the pub and garden on one side and the rooms on the other side.
After a lovely day exploring, we settled on the riverbank with a bottle of wine and watched the damselflies darting around. It was the perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying dinner. Complete and utter bliss.
