On Saturday, I met up with a lovely friend for a fun day of chatting, sightseeing and generally “catching up” after not seeing each other for almost two years! Nadine lives in the Midlands and I live in Hampshire, so I thought Oxford would be the ideal halfway point for both of us.
We had grand plans of meeting for a quick lunch and sightseeing all afternoon. Of course, we couldn’t stop chatting (we had a lot to talk about!) during a very long lunch and only managed a couple of hours of sightseeing. It all worked out rather well though, as it was a typical cold and drizzly January day, so being inside a warm café was lovely.Radcliffe Camera
Rather shockingly, this was my first visit to Oxford! I have been to Oxfordshire many times, driven past it and around the local area, but never ventured into the city. Luckily for me, it just so happens that when Nadine was at university, she used to work as a tour guide taking students from the local language school on day trips to Oxford and other charming English cities.Christ Church
I had planned to bring my camera, but I always feel uncomfortable making friends wait whilst I snap endless photos of all of the surrounding beauty (of which there is plenty in Oxford). So I only have these few photos I took on my phone. If you follow along on my Instagram, you would have seen lots of photos and videos on my stories.
Beautiful blossom in mid-January!
Oxford is a truly beautiful city and it thoroughly exceeded my expectations. Nathan and I are planning to visit in the spring or summer and he is very patient with my photo taking, so I will definitely bring my camera for the usual photo overload!Hertford Bridge, popularly known as The Bridge of Sighs
