Thank you all so much for your lovely comments on my last post, you absolutely made my day 🙂
I am so excited to tell you all about our upcoming travels! Years ago, when we were at university and shortly thereafter, we used to travel quite often. Now we don’t have quite as much free time to feed our wanderlust. At the beginning of the year we decided that after a few charming breaks away to the Country and the City, we needed a proper holiday full of culture, rest, relaxation and lots of sunshine! After some initial research we concluded that whilst the rest of the world is calling, we really had a yearning for the Mediterranean and decided that Italy, Greece or Malta would be on the horizon. This is when we spotted something that really appealed to us. We are spending a week on the Greek isle of Crete, then we are cruising around the Mediterranean for a week!Â
We have cruised before and been to Northern Italy, but all of the other destinations will be an entirely new experience and we cannot wait!Â
Today we will be flying out to Crete and staying on the north coast for a week.
Our first port of call will be Santorini, which is quite serendipitous, as this is the day we will be celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary 🙂
The following day we will be in Mykonos. Then we have a day at sea as travel to…
Followed by a day in Palermo, Sicily.
Our final port will be Civitavecchia as we fly back to London from Rome. It is unlikely we will see very much of Rome, so I am already planning a city break!Â
One of the persuasive factors was a stop in Naples, meaning we would finally be going to our dream destination of the Amalfi coast and the Isle of Capri (we were planning to get married there, but a local wedding topped our instead). A few weeks ago we were informed that Naples had been removed from the itinerary and was being substituted by Mykonos. The Amalfi coast once again evades us, but not to worry, we will visit one day and until then we have Mykonos, which looks absolutely beautiful! Â
The only thing I am not looking forward to is leaving our sweet kitties Millie and Sylvester and our darling pooch Poppy. Thankfully we have a friend popping in everyday to administer food and affection to the cats and Poppy is going for a holiday to my In-Laws (half a mile away!), so all will be in good hands, we just wish we could bring them with us!Â
If you have been to any of the destinations, please feel free to impart any pearls of wisdom and top tips you might have! I would love to hear if you have any travel plans this year 🙂
Wifi might be somewhat patchy during the holiday, so instead of blogging out there, I attempted to schedule some posts for this week and the next, but for some unknown reason, they didn’t publish. So I shall publish them when we return, along with lots of posts about the holiday too!Â
Whenever possible, I will update my Instagram and Snapchat (both Morwenna Hill), so be sure to follow along for some holiday snapshots 🙂
Wishing you all a lovely couple of weeks!Â
