My wanderlust is in full force and the current destination is Paris. Along with most people, the city of light has been at the top of my city break wish list for as long as I can remember. So I am beyond thrilled that in a month I will be able to check Paris off my wanderlust list and my winter bucket list! I am so excited to finally see Paris, I absolutely cannot wait!
If you are lucky enough to have visited this beautiful city, please feel free to dispense any pearls of Paris wisdom that you have 🙂 If there are any sights, landmarks, restaurants, shops and anything else that we simply must see and do, I would love to know!
Where would you like to jet off to at the moment?

I sent a link to Cadie and hopefully, she'll have some suggestions. They got into the Louvre and she did a walking tour which proved to be quite wonderful….have lots of fun!! I know you're going to just love it!! You speak French, too, don't you? Maybe you won't want to come back!!

Thank you so much Joann! I am very excited indeed and I am looking forward to hearing Cadie's suggestions. I could speak French at school, but I haven't practised much since then, so I am extremely rusty!
On a more sombre note, I am deeply saddened by yesterday's tragic attacks. The people of Paris are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm really happy for you that you're going to Paris. I was there in a cold winter too but it was very fun. I still remember how good all the dairy was–even yogurt for heaven's sake. The people weren't particularly nice or friendly. I remembered my school French pretty well in those days and also knew a lot of Italian, but they refused to understand me. In a restaurant where the only dessert was ice cream, they refused to comprehend what I meant by une glace. My accent is not that bad! I would say avoid museums and walk the streets, go into stores, buy food here and there and just live as the locals do. That is my fave way to visit a city. Really envy you being able to take the train to Paris, even for lunch. All I could do is go to San Diego for a trip that long, and tho it's a lovely place, they sort of still speak English there. Who are we kidding. The main language here is now Mexican.
Tops of my list of places to visit is London!! I'd love to come to England and see YOU, Rachel, Phil and Julie. I would also like to return to Paris. We drove there from Italy, so we went thru the Alps, ate fondue with our cat in his carrier in the restaurant with us cause it was so cold, stopped in Yugoslavia at a hotel that looked like the crazy one in The Grand Budapest Hotel, drove thru Monaco, went to Lyon and Nice and saw the most beautiful farmer's market ever, and finally stayed in Paris. If I were still married, I guess that would be one of the sweetest memories of our time together, and even divorced, it still is. I love car trips.
I hope you have a wonderful time on your grand adventure. And that it's not too cold!!

Hi Morwenna! I'm so excited for you! I really did fall in love with Paris. The architecture was amazing….everywhere you look is just beauty all around you. I loved all of the parks and gardens (Tuileries right outside of the Louvre, Luxembourg Gardens…so lovely!) and just wandering the streets. Seeing all the shops along the Champs-Élysées, getting macarons at Laduree, enjoying a coffee and people watching at a cafe. The whole city was like a cliche of what I thought Paris would be! 🙂 I actually saw a woman riding a bike with a baguette in the basket. I loved the Marais neighborhood, Île de la Cité, and Rue Cler. Riding the metro was super easy and very inexpensive…definitely the best way to get around besides walking. I went on a walking tour with Wego Walking tours and it was fabulous….a young guy and his wife run it and it's FREE, you just tip them. It was well worth the time….he was so energetic and passionate about his city and I learned so much about the history. You should definitely ask Rachel….she has been many times and she's the one I consulted before going on our trip! Have the most fun, Morwenna. I can't wait to see pictures. You should check out my Instagram to see some of my pictures, too!

Oh!! I am so very excited for you!! You know how much I love Paris! When we visited in 2011, we rented a studio apartment in the Marais region and loved having a kitchen to cook in! We walked to the Eiffel Tower and almost everywhere, really! Isle Saint-Louis was one of our favourite neighbourhoods to visit. You absolutely MUST stop at Berthillon ice cream shop and try one of their ice creams. It's one of the best I've ever had!!!

Thank you so much for your suggestions Cadie, they are all absolutely marvellous! Thank you also for reminding me that Rachel is a frequent visitor and will surely have the best ideas 🙂

Thank you so much for your suggestions Rosinda, they are fab! I think it will probably be too cold for ice creams in February, but should we visit again in the summer, we will definitely go to Bertillon!
