It was only a few days ago that we had the central heating on 20°C as it was so chilly and the tumble dryer was in full use. However after weeks of endless rain and dismal grey skies we have finally been graced with glorious summer sunshine. At 2pm the temperature was 25°C. It is now nearly 8pm and the thermostat is reading an indoor temperature of 22°C, so we will be sleeping on the duvet rather than under it tonight!
On a day like this there is nothing better than spending every moment outdoors soaking up the sunshine and being productive. There is something about being outside that makes hard work such fun and the hours just pass by in a happy blur. Nathan is busy working on a new DIY project re-purposing our old chicken run and some cushions from his parents sofa circa the late 1970’s! My contribution to the project will be re-covering the cushions in some pretty fabric.
I have been gardening and planning where to plant these little beauties
Lilacs |
Viburnums |
Hydrangeas |
Poppy and Sylvester have been sunbathing with intermittent shade-bathing
We do not have a free standing garden umbrella or a pretty parasol so we improvised with an umbrella for Poppy’s shade
I hope the sun is shining wherever you may be and you are enjoying your day. We are off into the garden again, this time instead of a drill and a trowel in hand it will be a glass of prosecco.

It's so nice to see you enjoying summer and you have a gorgeous place for it. Those bushes you're planting are going to be fantastic. I would love to have lilacs in my garden! xoxo

Hi, sweetie! Oh, does your property adjoin a field? The house I grew up in did just that, and I loved it!! Look at how adorable your Poppy and Sylvester are!!! Enjoying their sunbaths!! I take the sun forgranted, but should not… Have a wonderful weekend soaking in summer!! Love and lots of hugs, Sherry xoxo

I'm very impressed that Poppy took the time to tutor Nathan in the use of power tools. I'm sure she has much advice to offer and love the clever lean-to she made out of an umbrella. Your yard is beautiful and imagine how big those plants will be when you're my age. BooBoo says Sylvester is a very handsome cat and very fluffy too. He likes good looking animals.

Dear Morwenna,
I'm so glad that the rain has stopped and warm, sunny weather has taken its place! It is lovely to see you, Nathan, Poppy and Sylvester enjoying the outdoors. What a beautiful view you have! I especially love the photo of Poppy sitting on a cushion with the umbrella giving her shade. Too cute!! I look forward to seeing your garden when all the lilacs and flowers are planted and in full bloom! Happy Friday, dearest. I hope your weekend is filled with continued warmth and sunshine! Say hello to Nathan, too! xo

What lovely plans for plants! I do love how you back-up to the field–doesn't it just feel as though the beauty goes on forever? Here it's a 3-day holiday and it's heating up. Hope your weekend is glorious!

Here we have bypassed spring and headed straight into summer. Our high temperatures are expected into the mid-nineties (Fahrenheit), and the growing season is several weeks ahead of what is usual.
Good plans for plants! Our vegetable garden is well-underway.

Thank you Janie, we had such fun in the garden, we didn't want it to end! I hope the weather in OK has been good so far? I know it can get very hot!
Love Morwenna xo

Hi Sherrie, yes our house is adjoined to fields owned by a local farmer and it is definitely my favourite aspect of the property.
I hope you had a lovely birthday and fingers crossed my little package is almost there?!
