Our first day in Paris was absolutely glorious! We left the house at 5am and by the wonder of train travel we were in La Ville-Lumière by 12pm! After dropping our luggage off at the hotel we went to see the first landmark on our list, the Eiffel Tower
It certainly didn’t disappoint!
The lattice ironwork was so beautiful and the tower was even more enchanting than I thought possible
Sadly the queues were extremely long and we considered waiting, but ultimately decided that we would explore the tower another time when we didn’t have to wait for hours in the cold
Iconic signs for the underground (which was fantastic)
I fell madly deeply in love with the grand and impressive Parisian doors
Pretty little things lined the pavements
After our first day of sightseeing we needed fuel and lots of it! Châteauneuf-du-Pape, boeuf à la Bourguignonne and profiteroles energised us just enough for an evening stroll. Then it was back to our hotel in Saint-Germain-des-Prés for some much needed sleep before our second day in the beautiful city.

Oh how lovely, Morwenna…we were there the weekend before you, for Paul's birthday (see my last blogpost!!) didn't you walk up the tower?? It's a good way to beat the queues & you can go at your own pace so not too difficult – good marathon training?! So glad you had a lovely romantic time xx

Thank you so much Rachel! It looks as though you too had a splendid time in Paris!
We definitely wanted to walk up the tower, but I am having a terrible time with my asthma at the moment and I think the walk would have exacerbated my wheezy chest. Next time!

Thank you so much Rosinda! We hopped onto the Metro after our first evening stroll and when it was briefly overground we saw the tower in all of its twinkling beauty 🙂
I am writing the next post now, so fingers crossed I can publish it tonight or tomorrow xoxo
