I have been lusting after Emile Henry bakeware for quite some time. I remember seeing the lovely dishes and bakeware years ago whilst I was browsing Williams-Sonoma. I promptly added some pieces to my ever increasing kitchenware wish list. At the time Williams-Sonoma did not ship internationally, so I searched high and low for a supplier in the UK, but to no avail.
A few weeks I saw something yummy on Pinterest and realised the dish it was baked in was an Emile Henry and I decided I just had to have one…or two. Before committing to an order from Williams-Sonoma I quickly googled for a UK source and it was my lucky day. It turns out that there is a UK site for Emile Henry and I quickly snapped up these two little beauties.
Now I have to find the perfect summer recipes to christen these darling dishes. For the pie dish I am thinking of a cherry pie or clafoutis as English cherries are in season. For the square baker dish I think a fish lasagne would be lovely and light. Do you have any suggestions for my new additions? I would love to hear them.

If they had pie dish anonymous, I would have had to go. For very long I've been obsessing over this pie plate– http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/emile-henry-artisan-ruffled-pie-dish/?pkey=e%7Cpie%2Bdish%7C5%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C4&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-Feature_Recipe_Rule%7CTop_Wide_Agrarian%20-%20copy-_-
basically ever since Joann made that gorgeous pie with the cut outs. I ordered the cutters (still pristine in the box) and thought about this dish. I do have a ruffled pie plate. And the real problem is pie dough (and scones) make my heart pound. So making a pie would be an exercise in creativity and suicide. Every time I go to W-S I look at this pie dish and have seen yours as well and they're so lovely. I haven't actually seen the square one, which is beautiful. I had a ruffled square dish with flowers on it (along with many pieces in that design) but the glaze crazed and I returned some of them. I used to make brownies in that square pan and it was nice to serve them in it. My brownies are more airy than the typical chewy ones. Anyway you might consider brownies for the square pan. I've also made au gratins in mine.
What I've been saying lately is a pie plate need not hold only pie. I have some lentils and could make a lentils casserole topped with sauteed onions like they do in the middle east.
In any case happy for you and your Emile Henry score. They had a gorgeous large heart shaped pie dish a while back, not sure if it still exists. I got it for the errant offspring and she often made pies with fresh berries that were beautiful.
They do make smaller individual sized ruffled dishes, like for a pot pie or a two-person dessert (if one person is handcuffed to a chair and the other has the pie back in the kitchen and no morals at all).
Here's a nice recipe from Everyday Food that if you cut it by 1/3 can fit nicely in a square baker. http://www.marthastewart.com/326918/baked-shrimp-with-tomatoes-and-feta
Enjoy your new toys. Can't wait to see what you make.

Hello Morwenna,
I love your new Emile Henry bakeware! I don't own any myself, but can understand your lust for them. I have seen Emile Henry pie dishes before and I always stop to look! How about making a seafood bake? Do you like seafood? Shrimp, haddock and scallops in a creamy, garlic butter and wine sauce, with chopped parsley and thyme. Top with shredded parmesan cheese and bread crumbs! I know whatever you make, it will be delicious! Happy baking!! xoxo

I'm looking forward to seeing what you bake in your beautiful new Emile Henry bakeware. I know it will be delicious! I got two Emile Henry baking dishes about ten years ago and I've enjoyed them so much. I use them constantly and things really do bake better in them. It must be because they're so heavy and the food bakes more gently and evenly. I think you're going to love them! xoxo
