A few years ago we planted five lilac trees in the garden and what a joy they are! All of them are growing steadily and healthily, putting on quite an impressive show during the spring and early summer. I am not entirely sure of all of the varieties, as a few came from car boot sales, but I do know that the white one in the front garden is Madame Lemoine and I can definitely recommend it.
The sweet and enchanting fragrance of lilacs is one of my absolute favourites and is a sure sign of spring to me. The fragrance is so divine, I wish I could bottle it. Even Poppy finds them irresistible! Sadly, these are the last of this years bumper crop, but thankfully the peonies are just about to bloom and I cannot wait!
